As they prepare the next generation to take over their various wineries, the constant theme that comes through is the importance of the family winemaking tradition in Australia which has been the mainstay of the Australian wine Industry prior to the expansion of the big brands.
As Peter Barry sums it up, "It's important that we all realise that we're just custodians of these vineyards and this long-term committment to the industry, the vineyards, the businesses and the next generation who will take over is an important part of the Australian wine culture and although this culture is very strong in Australia, it's a story that isn't really talked about with regard to Australian wine."
