There's not a lot left to say about French wines that hasn't already been said thousands of times over the past couple of hundred years. We Brits used to be intimidated by the glamorous sounding names that often turned out to be more of a mouthful than the wines themselves. No longer!! We are now a nation of confident and experienced wine drinkers and as a result we are happy to experiment and benefit from drinking wines that don't always come from the high profile producers and regions. Our philosophy is simple. We look for wines that really deliver on taste and on budget, whether they come from France's aristocratic vineyards or from "Jean-Claude come lately" regions that are on the upward trend. Here's a few of our favourites to whet your appetite.
Most Popular French White: Touraine Sauvignon Blanc Guy Allion
Most Popular French Red: Chateau Trapaud St Emilion |
