Most wine lovers nowadays have the benefit of NOT having grown up on a diet of sickly sweet, dreary Liebfraumilch, which was replaced as the student party wine by Pinot Grigio in the early noughties. As a wonderful result of this, most people now happily embrace the fine, elegant, dry or semi-dry German rieslings and appreciate them for the top quality wines they are and always were. Liebfraumilch, you see, is not actually made from the ueber-fit "Premier league" star that is RIESLING , it's made from a mongrel selection of style-free, overweight "Sunday League" grape varietals that are all called Barry. |
