Spain has the largest area of vineyards in the world and yet we still tend to think that the relatively small area of RIOJA in the north central part of the country is the only worthy Spanish contender at the wine Olympics. OK, it would often be a Gold medallist, and a real crowd pleaser into the bargain....the Hussein Bolt of the wine world. But come on team....what about the wonderful, ripe, rich, succulent Garnachas from Priorat and Montsant near the French border to the east, or the fabulously zesty, crisp dry Albarinos from the north west, to name but a few. Spain makes a diverse range of fantastic wines and they all seem to be blessed with the same charm and cuddly, irresistible drinkability.....Hola!!
