1. Who are Philglas & Swiggot?

We are independent Wine Merchants established in 1991. We have won many awards over the years and pride ourselves on our huge range and personal service.

There is a minimum order value of £50.

3. Delivery / Collection information and charges

Please note that the following delivery charges apply for standard retail orders (multiple corporate orders will incur a delivery charge - please email us for details): UK deliveries are undertaken by UPS and charged at £12.00 for 1 case except for Southern & Northern Ireland; Isle of Man; Isle of Wight.      

Yes we can deliver to Europe, however we do not ship to the United States or Asia

Deliveries are sent via courier - please allow 3 - 4 days for orders before received by us before 10am.  We aim to get deliveries out as soon as possible, but obviously wines can go out of stock from time to time. Should the delay be more than a few days we will contact you to discuss the best way forward.     Actual time of delivery is based upon 9am-5.30pm Mon – Friday. 

Local Deliveries may be made using our own van within our set delivery areas.   

Collections - please state on your order which shop you would like to collect from, we will refund any delivery charges at the time of collection.

4.  How do local deliveries work?
We deliver locally to SW11 SW12 SW4 and SW17 . We will always call you before delivery to arrange a time with you. Alternatively you can make your order and collect at your leisure - any delivery charges can be refunded at that time. the special instructions area and we will ring to book in the delivery at your convenience.  We can deliver anytime up to 7pm.    Please indicate whether you would prefer to collect your wine in the special instructions.

5. What if no one is home to meet the courier?

If no one is home, the courier will leave a card to say she/he has been. Alternatively, you may authorize the courier to leave the order in a certain place. There is a textbox in the shopping checkout where delivery instructions can be left should no one be home to meet the courier. Let us know if you want the courier to leave your order in a certain spot (e.g. at back door or in shed etc). IMPORTANT NOTE: if a request is made for wine to be left unattended, Philglas & Swiggot cannot be held responsible if the wine goes missing after the courier has delivered it.

6. What are the ordering and payment options?

The Philglas & Swiggot website provides a fully secure link for credit card payments, so we recommend that customers order this way.  The website shows “live stock” quantities  but from time to time errors do occur, so if a wine is out of stock, we will replace it with the nearest equivalent in price and style.   If you would prefer not to register, you can always use the site to browse and then email your order to Karen@philglas-swiggot.co.uk with a contact telephone number and we will call you to take payment over the phone.

*Please note that Philglas & Swiggot only accepts Visa, Mastercard, Delta, Maestro(Switch) and Solo.  Amex will be available in the coming months.

7. Our contract

When you place an order with us you will be sent an e-mail confirming receipt of your order and setting out the details. If there is a change we will email you to notify what is out of stock.   Your order represents an offer to purchase from us, which is accepted by us when we contact you (usually by email but sometimes by telephone) with confirmation stating that we have dispatched the goods to you. Any goods on the same order which have not been confirmed as having been dispatched do not form part of that contract.

8. What is the Philglas & Swiggot policy on breakages from deliveries?

Although the courier should advise us if there are any breakages, it's still very important that you let us know ASAP of any stock damage once received so we can investigate with the delivery operator and source replacement wine for you. PLEASE BE CERTAIN TO CHECK THE NUMBER OF PARCELS YOU ARE SIGNING FOR - WE CANNOT REPLACE WINES THAT HAVE BEEN SIGNED FOR BUT NOT ACTUALLY RECEIVED. As you can appreciate to prevent fraudulent damage claims we need to be made aware of damage ASAP thus we prefer to be notified via e-mail or phone within 24 hrs.

9. Is Philglas & Swiggot able to source wine not offered on the site?

Philglas & Swiggot has access to most of the leading distributors in the UK wine industry so we can usually track down a certain wine for you.

10. Can I order from overseas?

We can deliver to most EU countries.  We do not deliver to the United States or Australasia. We will contact you to advise if delivery sur-charges apply.    You can pay via the secure credit card system, otherwise please email any enquiries to Karen@philglas-swiggot.co.uk   Any customs taxes / import charges are the responsibility of the buyer.

12. Legal Ordering Age

Philglas & Swiggot will not sell to anyone under the legal drinking age of 18 years. We ask you to confirm this when you order.

13. Does Philglas & Swiggot Offer Refunds?

Of course.  We will not refund a purchase because you didn't like the wine - however if there is bottle damage or your wine is corked -please contact us immediately by email to Karen@philglas-swiggot.co.uk and we will organise a refund. 
If, for any other reason you are not completely happy with your order, please return goods within 3 weeks of receiving your order for a refund of returned goods.   Any goods returned as part of a Sale or Return Agreement for weddings and events, wines must be of re-sale quality i.e. labels and capsules/closures must be intact.    We may request the return of the damaged product before a refund is given so that we can make an assessment as well.

14. Can I send wine as a gift to someone else?

Yes!   When filling in the order form you have the option to include a different delivery address - simply fill this in. We will email you to confirm that the wine has been sent to the third party.  There is a space to include a Gift Message.  

Please be sure to give us all the details such as recipient's name, contact phone number, and any message you would like to include. We need a contact number to ensure delivery can be arranged with the recipient, or email all of these details to karen@philglas-swiggot.co.uk
