Region Italy Sicily
Style Dry Red Wine
Grape Nero d'Avola
When the traditional sweet wines of Marsala started to decline, the Rallo family were one of the first to begin making high quality table wines. An historic estate since 1851 with cellars that tunnel beneath the city, Donnafugata is mostly known for their top red wines Tancredi and Mille e Una Notte. The Sherazade red is a light and juice red from the Nero d'Avola with good acidity and drinkability. The family also has a 68 hectare vineyard on the island of Pantelleria where they make one of the world's best dessert wines "Ben Rye Passito di Pantelleria". |
