Grape Carignan
Super new find after our last trip to the South of France. Generally producers boast about the 10 or 15% old vine Carignan in their wines that are blended in with Syrah and Grenache. When we found this 4th generation producer of excellent old vine Carignan we jumped at importing them - so here they are. They also make a beautiful white Grenache which is also from 80 year old vines. Full bodied crisp and zingy, excellent value, Grenache such as this is really the great white wine of the South, usually blended in with Roussanne and Marsanne, and very rarely found on its own simply because there aren't that many plantings of the older vines.
Try also their superbly named, venerable Carigan "Si Nous Parlion"
