New find following our trip to Puglia in June - exclusive to P&S An impressive winery housed in the traditional renovated Masseria (farm) in Puglia. The vineyard are in the Southern Salento plain just 20km from the Ionian and Adriatic seas just to the south of Lecce, the cultural capital of the South. Native to southern Italy in particular Salento, Negroamaro has developed into the second grape after Primitivo for that authentic Puglian experience. Whilst Primitivo is the sweeter one, Negroamaro has a dark and sultry character and a rustic charm. Serve it with the Puglian speciality pasta Orecciete (little ear) with a simple tomato, basil and sauce.  Impressive depth of colour from deep red/purple to almost black. On the nose there's an intoxicating mixture of perfumes of red berry fruit, and a certain herbaceousness, like the smell of the vine once you've picked the cherry tomatoes off - sweetness and leafiness and dust.
