This is a fabulous wine that we found a little over 6 years ago and now finally have been able to get our hands on some. While most Verdicchio is in the large Castelli di Jesi zone close to the sea, what makes Belisario different is its inland location in the Matelica zone. Here the climate is more continental with a longer growing season of warm days and cool nights giving good flavour in the grapes. The majority of the blend is fermented in stainless steel with 30% aged for 12 months in French oak. The result is a stunning white of great depth and richness and complexity and a stand out wine which must be one of the best Verdicchio produced. |
