One of our favourites: and what would have to be one of the most stunning wine labels. The Palacios wines are amongst the most elegant Spanish wines on the market today. Petalos is from the Mencia grape, grown in Bierzo, north-west Spain. This incredibly fertile and abundant region has been completely untouched by industrial farming methods, most of the plots are tiny, and diversely planted with fruits, nuts and grapes. Alvaro Palacios is one of the founding wine producers of the region and son, Riccardo will use grapes from over 200 small vineyards across the region. Petalos has a lovely eamless quality, a textured and layered palate, never heavy or overly rich. Refined yet charming and drinkable: excellent value for money too. Ideal with roast meats, grills, poultry and hard cheeses. |
