Conceito Vinhos Contraste Tinto
Origin Portugal Douro Tejo Valley
Grape Tourigas Nacional, Franca, Tinto Roriz
Style Medium elegant dry red
Another great red from Rita Marques, based in the Tejo Valley of the Douro just behind Vesuvio. The meso-climate means the harvesting is often two weeks later than in the Douro proper. There seems to be a real freshness and vibrancy running through all the Concieto reds which could be a characteristic of this Valley. A classic Douro blend of Tourigas Nacional and Franca, with Roriz aged in 70% French oak for 18 months. Rita also makes one of Portugal's best white wines Conceito Branco and the unforgettably named Conceito Bastardo, Douro's most widely planted variety 150 years ago! |
