| After a long and exhausting tasting with the very friendly ladies at the Valdobbiadene Consorzio at this year's Vinitaly, one of the most exciting wine fairs in the world, we found the most exciting new Prosecco! They reckoned we already had one of the best Proseccos going (Adami Bosco di Gico) so how could we top that? Well they kept pulling out Prosecco after Prosecco, until our hearts leapt. Garbara had everything Adami had and more! Garbara is a tiny producer in the hills of Cartizze, as we found out, it's sort of like THE Grand Cru within the Valdobbiadene DOCG, this is an extra dry wine with roundness and ripe fruit. Sensational fresh floral nature with a most delicate faded straw colour., richly mineral, it evokes the scent of newly dried summer hay. According to their lovely website. Cartizze is the most prestigious area in Prosecco di Valdobbiadene zone and was already named Cartice as long ago as 1500. The vineyards are carved out on steep, chalky terraces all South East facing and has been farmed by the Grotto family for more than 80 years. Just 700 cases of each style made! Exclusively imported by Philglas & Swiggot! |
