Voted Qantas Winemaker of the Year, Ben Glaetzer is part of a Barossa Valley winemaking Dynasty; his father Colin was chief winemaker at the Barossa Valley Estates co-opeartive in charge of making such iconic labels as Eileen Hardy Shiraz and E&E Black Pepper Shiraz (in fact it was Ben's mum who came up with the E&E name after the two separate Ebenezers who owned the vineyards). And Ben's Uncle is the John behind John's Blend who made all the famous Black label wines back in the 1970s for Wolf Blass.
The backbone of this full-bodied shiraz is the exceptional fruit from the dry-grown vines of the famed Ebenezer vineyards in the Barossa Valley. Aromas of liquorice and mocha intermingle with cassis and leather. Opulent fruit flavours on the palate are beautifully balanced by firm, velvety tannins from maturation in French and American oak. This multi-layered shiraz is drinking superbly now and it will reward cellaring for the next decade. |
