2007 Quinta do Coa Tinto Douro Organic Red

A wine coming for a vineyard in the middle of nowhere where the grapes varieties (Touriga Nacional , Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz) have to fend for themselves to produce tiny clusters baked in the sun ! They are all grown using Certified Organic viticulture. The result is a deep purple nectar with a beautiful nose evocative of cloves and violets with blackcurrants. The palate is elegant with gorgeous fruit that expands in the mouth for a pleasing finish with dry powdery tannins. The wine spends 6 months in American and French oak but the tannins are melting away. Will drink well now but some decanting will help no doubt, and could benefit with further cellaring. Superb for all your stews and game dishes.
