Bodegas El Porvenir Amauta
Origin Argentina Salta Cafayate
Style Dry red wine
Grape Malbec Cabernet Sauvignon Syrah
A relatively new winery ( the new owners kept the old winery downtown Cafayate dating from 1880 ) located 7 kms outside Cafayate on the slopes of the Andes. This region quite small in acres but is slowly becoming the second one in Argentina after Mendoza. Funny enough the name of Cafayate for Argentines is synomyn of the great aromatic Torrontes white wine . The Reds are making a welcome arrival on the wine scene. The vineyards are some of the highest in the world (3000 metres )
60% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah Very elegant with lots of fruit and a crisp finish due to the high altitude vineyards .
The attention to detail and the sense of place is present on the label with the Inca cross, and the name Amauta, means the wise one in Quechua, the local Andin language. You'll be seduced! |
