Malhadinha is a Portuguese success story. A 450ha ranch-like property that not only has 27 ha of vines, but also prized Lusitano horses, the DOP Alentejano cattle breed, and Porco Preto Black pigs, and oh, yes a 10 bed deluxe country house and spa rated as the top hotel in Portugal! Run by hosts brothers Paulo and Joao Soares and their wines Margaret and Rita, this is a must visit the next time you are in Portugal as it is only 1 1/2 hours from Faro. The labels are designed by the Joao's children.
Monte Peceguina is the best selling wine of the estate and made from six grape varieties including Trincadeira and Touriga Nacional which are also used for Port giving an indication of what this wine will taste like! Pure, rich and hedonistic with an underlying minerality which adds to the complexity.
There's also a really good white made under this label.
